Discussion Group and the Catechism Classes

September 20th, 2017

Dear Friends,

We announced in the Monthly Newsletter (The Voice of St. Paul, September 2017) that besides the Bible class, we will start in this Fall two new classes: the Discussion Group and the Catechism.

The Discussion Group is geared to religious, ethical and moral subjects and open to any interested person (Orthodox or non-Orthodox). The format is free and the subjects of discussion are proposed by the participants in the previous meeting. I will be just a moderator, to keep the decorum and to channel the discussions to the subject matter. The first meeting will be on Monday, September 25th at 6:00pm, the Hellenic Center, the Conference Room upstairs. This first meeting will be dedicated to the organization of the Group and may take a bite of the subject, “The issue of gender in contemporary America.”

The Catechism class will strive to offer an introduction to Orthodoxy to those people who would like to convert to the Orthodox faith. Other people, Orthodox or not, interested in enlarging their knowledge about Orthodoxy are warmly welcomed. There are six lessons (1 1/2 to 2 hours each) with materials provided and which will intend to cover the main areas of historical, liturgical, sacramental and moral aspects of Orthodoxy. The first class (Lesson 1) is scheduled for Thursday, September 28th, 6:00pm, in the Hellenic Center, Conference Room upstairs. The first class is dedicated to the “History of the Christian Church and of the Orthodox Church.”

If you know other people interested to attend any of the classes, please invite them to attend.

Looking forward to see you,

Fr. Vasile
